Portsmouth High School – Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK

Portsmouth High School, opened in 1882 as a girls day school with 32 girls.  The school quickly grew and today it has around 460 girls between the ages of 3 and 18 split between a pre-school, prep school, senior school and sixth form.

The school achieves very highly in academic terms both at GCSE and A Level and a significant proportion of its girls secure places at the best universities.  Outside the classroom, there is strong emphasis on the creative arts, music and sports.

Portsmouth is a port on the south coast of England about 70 miles (110km) south west of London. It is one of the UK’s most important naval ports and has the oldest dry dock in the world. It has a population of just over 200,000 and a very proud naval history. Admiral Nelson’s HMS Victory is on display in Portsmouth and it is a busy ferry port as well.
