Oakwood School – Chichester, UK
Oakwood is actually three schools in one: a pre-school, nursery school and prep school. It was founded as a prep school for boys in 1912 and when the Second World War ended, had only 6 boys! The Pre-Prep opened in 1975 and girls were admitted for the first time.
Today the school occupies a wonderful Georgian building dating from 1811, in glorious grounds, in the village of East Ashling, just 2 miles from Chichester. There are currently about 240 pupils who go on to the best public schools, both locally and much further afield.
East Ashling is a small pretty village with a population of about 300, just to the west of Chichester, but separated from Chichester itself by a ‘rural gap’.
